If there’s anything I’ve learned from all my wanderings, from dipping my toes into different cultures and communities, it’s that. People are people wherever you go. There is no such thing as a place free from strife, from drama and gossip and fighting and anger. Much as we like to pretend that society is responsible for every personality trait we deem to be undesirable, it’s not. Society was created by people. People are responsible.
Everywhere you go, you will find liars, thieves, and manipulators. Everywhere you go, you will find golden buddhas whose energy shines so pure that the sun seems to shine on them wherever they stand.
Nothing is sacred, nothing is safe. Does that mean everything is sacred?
